These skimmers are known as cone skimmers due to the shape of their main body. This shape is a great benefit in a protein skimmer because the design does not add back pressure on the pump. This is accomplished by a lack of resistance from the skimmer base all the way to the collection cup. This allows the skimmer to work at maximum efficiency.
