The cone shaped design of XP skimmers has been a big hit among marine hobbyists in recent years. The cone shape reduces friction and back pressure which creates a more efficient transport of waste carrying bubbles as they travel to the collection cup. This means the skimmer can operate more effectively in taking waste out of your system. The integrated bubble plate reduces turbulence, which helps the skimmer build a very dense head of foam. The extra wide plumbing allows for better flow, and the wedge pipe allows you to make precise adjustments to the skimmer compared to ball valves. the collection cup needs just 1/2 inch in height to remove and replace, so be sure to add that 1/2″ to the height of the dimension of the skimmer you are considering.
